6 Boise Midwives Empowering Women in Their Pregnancy Journey

As women, we spend years learning about our own bodies. We know what works for us and what doesn’t. So, when it’s time to plan your pregnancy and delivery, you don’t want to partner with someone who will shut you out of the conversation entirely. Boise midwives are one of the best tools you can have when it comes to taking back your voice for your childbirth experience. Because they are able to limit how many patients they take on at one time, they are actually going to be able to sit down and build a relationship with you. In the process, they will empower you so you can have the birth experience that is right for your family.

As a Boise maternity photographer, I adore getting to connect with new parents so I can find out what made their birth experience so magical. If you are looking for Boise midwives, here is the list of ones I always recommend!

6 Incredible Boise Midwives To Guide Your Dream Birth

Treasure Valley Midwives

207 W. Washington Street, Boise, Idaho 83702

While Treasure Valley Midwives might specialize in pregnancy and delivery, these experts are really here for pretty much every season. This family-centered group is passionate about providing healthcare that works for you. They offer primary care, lactation consultations, and, of course, prenatal care. The practice is operated by 9 certified midwives who will amplify your voice throughout your entire pregnancy. They take a unique approach to care, using a group prenatal care model.

You are going to get the chance to meet with a diverse group of people with a similar due date. This is going to help you build up your community while learning and growing alongside others. You will still have one-on-one appointments with your midwife, and you can choose what remains private. If you would prefer, you can choose regular prenatal care, where you simply just work with your midwife. The group practices out of a homelike birth center where you can have a low-intervention delivery using water if you would like. They also have close relationships with neighboring hospitals in case you need to be transferred at any point.

Family Tree Midwifery

4041 S. Argonaut Ave, Boise, Idaho 83709

Family Tree Midwifery is a smaller practice that is owned and operated by Certified Professional Midwife Brittany Hiller. For Brittany, this work is deeply personal. She decided to get started after the births of her own children. She has gotten the chance to work all across the state and now works in Boise to help every family have their ideal birth experience. Before you get started with Brittany’s care, you can schedule a consultation.

During this free visit, you are going to get to know her style so you can decide if she’s the right person for your family. If so, you will get started with the prenatal appointments, where you will have 1 hour of unrushed time. She will answer any of your questions and ensure you feel prepared for delivery. She can do any lab work in the office and will provide you with additional resources, including nutritional counseling and childbirth education. Brittany specializes in home births and can provide a birth tub.

Hillside Midwifery

412 E. 41st Street, Suite 2, Garden City, Idaho 83714

Hillside Midwifery is a home birth practice that was opened by Katie Shaffer, a Certified Professional Midwife. When Katie isn’t busy assisting moms with their dream births, she is working alongside other midwives as a board member of the NACPM. Her goal is to provide you with informed consent so you can make the decisions that make the most sense for your body. The practice features two other midwives who are just as dedicated to their work.

With this center, you will start out with a consultation before starting on regular visits with their providers. They understand that prenatal care is not one-size-fits-all and will personalize their care to your needs. Hillside Midwifery will also provide you with a home visit before your due date so you can be sure your space is prepared for your delivery. They can assist with water birth and will do everything they can to make sure the postpartum transition is smooth.

Sage Midwifery

Sage Midwifery is a home birth practice that provides thorough, convenient care. When you choose this center, you will receive all your prenatal appointments within your home. Your midwife will meet with you in the space where you feel the most comfortable and make sure you have care that will suit your needs. They use evidence-based information to tell you all about your options so you can make the choices that work best for you. You will have one-hour prenatal appointments where your midwife will perform an assessment while building up a connection so they can be your advocate throughout your delivery. They can perform all lab work and offer referrals for ultrasound. This practice also uses a group prenatal visit model for clients who would prefer shared visits. Before your due date, they will help you make sure your house is ready for your delivery.

They want to be sure that you have a fulfilling experience that will serve as a happy start to your new family. The center has large tubs and cozy beds that you can use as needed for your labor.
